While summer has officially started, Ubar Grotto had one final task to complete – the June stated meeting and Ceremonial.
Held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, nearly fifty Prophets and candidates gathered at the Spring Garden Conference Center to enjoy one final bit of sympathy and good fellowship before the summer break. The meal for the evening was a fabulous mix of summer BBQ favorites, including chicken, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings. Once again, Ubarians prooved they know how to eat!
With full tummies, it was time for the meeting and ceremonial. The Remembrance Ceremony was performed for the first time, honoring Pro. Robert Norcross after his recent passing. It was a moving service, perfect for keeping the memory of Bob alive. Following, several summer events were announced, including the upcoming trip to Samis Grotto on July 13, 2013 and a Master Mason Night to be held at D&S Cigars in Lancaster on August 24, 2013.
With the business of the evening concluded, it was time for the Ceremonial of the Order. Ubar was pleased to welcome 10 new Prophets into the Realm, bringing the total membership up to 86! Everyone had a blast witnessing the unique ritual of the organization and not one person could keep a straight face the whole night. It truly was full of sympathy and good fellowship.
Several visitors were present for the meeting, including Pro. Victor Mann, Monarch of Azim Grotto, in New York, NY; Pro. Bob Burns, PM, and Pro. Mike Burns, Chief Justice, both of Delco Grotto in Broomall, PA.
While Ubar doesn’t meet again until September, we encourage you to keep an eye on this space for more information about upcoming events and Ubar news!
