On Monday, September 17, 2012, three Prophets from Ubar Grotto piled into their trusty Studebaker and barreled towards the metropolis that is New York City. There they intended to visit the most handsome (albeit, not the brightest) Grotto in the Realm – Azim!
Their plan was well laid out. They left on time, planned for breaks, and thought everything was under control. Little did they know that a raging fire of lettuce would stop them, dead in their tracks, for 40 minutes. Thankfully, the local fire fighters quickly put out the blaze on the side of the road so the Prophets could get to the city on time.
Upon arrival in New York, no Prophet talked about the “pretty lights” or the fact he was Amish. Rather, they they parked the car and darted into the famous Player’s Club, located on Gramercy Park. One must see the Player’s to fully enjoy it, but the building was a marvel from a different era in the history of the city. Take the time to see it, you won’t regret it!
The stage was set for Azim to have their monthly meeting and induct new Prophets. They were granted access to the historic stage at the Player’s, where many a star had previously performed. Unfortunately, Azim garnered more jeers than cheers on this night, but it was only to be expected. Pro. Isaac Moore, Monarch of Azim, did a fine job of wrangling his unruly bunch of chimps, forcing them to put on a great presentation of the Grotto Ceremonial. Pro. John Roberts, Master of Ceremonies, performed admirably well and received thunderous applause. On the other hand, Pro. Victor Mann, Chief Justice, was giving a barely passing grade, only cementing his place as the least elect-able candidate running for Monarch.
All jokes aside, it was a great night for Grotto, with 8 new members taking in the sights and beginning their journey with Azim. Huzzah to all for a fantastic night!
