Ubar to Host PA Grotto Association

Ubar Grotto is pleased to announce that it will act as the host Grotto for the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Grotto Association, to be held on Friday, October 5 & Saturday, October 6, 2012. The headquarters hotel will be the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East, just outside of the State Capital.

What happens at a PGA meeting? First and foremost, you’ll be treated to a heaping helping of good fellowship with Prophets from all over Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic Region. However, the real heart of the event is the meeting held on Saturday morning. During this time, issues facing the PGA will be discussed and new officers will be elected. The officers of the PGA are tasked with creating programs and events that benefit and support the member Grottoes of the association, which consists of all of the active Grottoes in Pennsylvania (currently 9.) Finally, on Saturday evening, a banquet is held, culminating in the installation of officers for the coming year.

While this event is primarily for Prophets, there will be plenty for the ladies to do as well. Prophet Bob Lorenz, President of the PGA, along with his lady, has planned a great weekend for families and friends of the Grotto. Ladies will be able to enjoy shopping in Harrisburg as well as the nearby outlets in Hershey, PA. On Saturday, a tour of the Masonic Villages at Elizabethtown will be coordinated, providing a great opportunity to show off one of the crown jewels of Masonry in Pennsylvania.

So, where does Ubar fit into all of this? As the host Grotto, Ubar will be responsible for the hospitality suite and for helping to coordinate some of the local events. Prophets have already begun making plans that will show off all of the good things happening in the Grotto in Central Pennsylvania.

We are also pleased to announce that Prophet Seth Anthony, Charter Monarch of Ubar Grotto, has declared his candidacy for the bottom of the PA Grotto Association line of officers. If elected, he will begin progressing towards the office of President of the Association, where he hopes to bring the spirit of Ubar to all of the Grottoes in Pennsylvania.
