On a brisk and very windy March 26, 2012, four members of Ubar Grotto piled into the Ubarwagon to make a road trip to visit Azim Grotto, located in New York City. The group, consisting of Pro. Seth Anthony, Monarch and District Deputy of the Supreme Council, Pro. George Hindson, Chief Justice, Pro. David Labagh, Venerable Prophet, and Pro. Tom Labagh, Vizier, passed the trial that is known as New Jersey, finding themselves in mid-town Manhattan, where Azim now meets.
After a jaunty walk around Times Square, Central Park, Columbia Circle, and the rest of mid-town, the Prophets found themselves at the Inc. Lounge at the Times Hotel on 49th Street. Little did the members know what was in store for them. They were greeted by Prophet Isaac Moore, Monarch of Azim Grotto, who introduced them to the other members as they arrived. After a bit of fellowship, Pro. Moore escorted the Ubarians to where Azim meets – in the penthouse on the 16th floor of the hotel, which is glass enclosed. Needless to say, it provided an amazing view of the city and certainly set the mood for the rest of the evening.
While the setting may have been amazing, it was the fellowship that was truly extraordinary. Prophets from both Grottoes talked and learned from one another. Key facts garnered from the evening included learning that while Azim may be more handsome, Ubar is way smarter; Pro. John Roberts, Azim’s Master of Ceremonies, is “King of the Hipsters”; and that no matter how many times the Monarch raps the gavel, his orders are completely optional. Obviously Azim has found their niche, as they took in five new Prophets at this meeting.
The only word that adequately describes this trip is “legendary” and the Prophets who attended will be telling the story for years to come! Thanks to everyone at Azim Grotto – especially their officers: Isaac Moore, Monarch; Victor Mann, Chief Justice; John Roberts, Master of Ceremonies; and new Pro. Rick Addison, for providing the meeting space. You can be sure that Ubar will be back again!
