Sunday, September 11, 2011 marks the first time that the members of Ubar met as an official Grotto. That night also saw another first for Ubar – its first Ceremonial!
Taking in new members is the only way for an organization to grow. In the world of Grotto, that means that you need to provide a way for those new members to witness the Ceremonies of the Order. Knowing this, the Prophets of Ubar Grotto planned and held their first Ceremonial the same night as their first real meeting. Whew – they must have been crazy!
Actually, it was crazy fun! Under the watchful direction of the Vizier, Pro. Tom Labagh, the members of Ubar Grotto volunteered to take part in presenting the Ceremonial. Ubar, always wanting to be different, tried something new. The members presented the short form Ceremonial as a “readers theater” style production, with many of the Prophets participating – most of them hamming it up in the process!
The evening was great and everybody left remarking that it was the most enjoyable time they have ever had presenting or watching an induction ceremony for a Masonic body.
Oh, and let’s not forget the newest members! Congratulations to Prophet Dave Werner of York, PA, and Prophet Chris Young of Mount Joy, PA, who have truly discovered the priceless jewel of the Enchanted Realm!
